Laser Hair Removal. Laser energy is used to produce a long term hair reduction through a series of treatments. This is accomplished
by producing heat in the hair which is transferred to the follicle. This in turn produces inflammation that sends a signal to the
hair follicle to go into a resting phase.
Studies show that for a suitable candidate's hair growth can be reduced by 40-80%.
Hair color and skin type are a few key factors that influence the success of hair removal. The treatment is most successful on people
with dark hair and light skin.
During the treatment a hand held laser is pressed against the skin, and a cooling device and
cool gel are used to protect the skin. When the laser is activated light passes through the skin surface to the hair follicles where
hair growth originates. The intense heat damages the hair follicle which inhibits hair growth. It takes several treatments to provide
and extended "hair-free" period.
